You can add, edit or delete Cirro roles, assign them to users or other roles, and grant them database privileges.

Default Cirro Roles

Cirro has several built-in roles which enable permissions to cirro objects and target systems.

Role Description
Public All users belong to the Public Role which enables login. No permission to cirro objects and target systems. Default privileges associated with PUBLIC role are CONNECT, SET DESCRIBE and SELECT (on metadata tables). These can be changed by a system administrator, but it is not recommended. The PUBLIC role cannot be dropped.

federated_read_write Execute Federated Queries, DDL, and DML
data_migrator Manage and Execute Data Projects

View Roles

  • Click Users & Roles then View all roles.
Column Description
Name Role Name
Active Directory Group Roles assigned to Active Directory Groups
Modified Date Date and time of last modification

Create Roles

Search Roles

  • Click Users & Roles then View all roles.

  • Enter all or part of user details in the Search field for immediate results.

Edit Role

  • Click Users & Roles then View all roles.

  • Click Edit Role.

Step Option Description
One Grant Roles to Role Add all the Cirro privileges and datasource permissions in an existing role to a new role. Select the role and use arrow keys to grant or revoke.
Two Select Permissions Use arrow keys to grant or revoke Cirro permissions to the role. Cirro permissions grant access to different functions within the application.
Three Select Object Permissions Drill down and grant specific object permissions to a role. Access to datasources is determined by permissions granted to the logged in user.
  • Follow the steps in the wizard and make your alterations.

  • Click Finish when you’re done.

Assign Datasource credentials to a role

You can set up roles to connect direct to any datasource already set up in Cirro. Repeat this process for however many datasources you want to add.

These steps assume you’ve added a datasource and created a role.

  • Click Users & Roles then View all roles.

  • Click Set Database Credentials.

  • Click Add Datasource.

  • Choose the datasource, then enter username and password.

  • Click Test to verify a connection can take place.

  • Click OK to save.

Assign Roles to users

  • Click Users & Roles then View all roles.

  • Click Assign Users

  • Tick users and user the arrow keys to grant or revoke them

Delete Role

  • Click Users & Roles then View all roles.

  • Click Delete for the role to delete.

  • On the confirmation message, click Yes
